a CONCEPT ALBUM moving THROUGH THE SEASONS OF A YEAR
The Cycle
“THE CYCLE” EXPLORES THE EMOTIONAL TURMOILS AND TRIUMPHS TRANSFORMATIVE EXPERIENCES BRING FOR THE PROTAGONIST, THE HEROINE, BEHIND THE CONCEPT ALBUM AS SHE MOVES THROUGH THE SEASONS OF A YEAR.
“Atmospherically dense, sometimes flickering-light, sometimes melancholic-dark, the melodies and lyrics unfold on Laura Carbone's new album 'The Cycle.' The indie-pop-rock-wave gem leads on a journey through the seasons and to oneself.”
Yoga World Magazine 05/2024
“The soundtrack of life. That’s the kind of album Laura Carbone has released.”

CHAPTER ONE: SPRING
MOURNING EACH DAY AWAY
It begins in the springtime with the lush, wistful “Mourning Each Day Away” and the emergence of light and determination, evolving through the remaining seasons and all they can bring into our lives as they complete the annual cycle before inevitably transforming and shifting into a new vibration.
CHAPTER TWO: SUMMER
HORSES
We arrive at the peak of the year: summer. Our heroine is experiencing the passion of this season of light, when fields become gold, and heatwaves and wildfires turn them black.
It is the season of lust and passion, reminding us of the determination it takes for Mother Earth to restore and reclaim burnt ground.
CHAPTER THREE: AUTUMN
tuesday
As individuals assigned female at birth, we were taught to be submissive and silent in the face of injustice, leading to the suppression of emotions like frustration, rage, and anger over centuries. The song encourages the expression of female rage through the voice, allowing the release of built-up tension and anger that is ready to be returned to its sender.
CHAPTER FOUR: WINTER
The GoOD
belongs to the winter chapter of the record. When the element of water takes the lead and blesses our scenery with glistening snowflakes and simultaneously overflows our rivers and oceans with overwhelming swells.
Our heroine is in wintering and slowly but surely connects intentionally with the intangible and starts talking to spirit guides through her subconscious.
This is a soundtrack of a key moment in her process of Individuation.

“The Cycle” explores the emotional turmoil and triumphs a transformative experience brings for the protagonist, the heroine behind the concept album as she moves through the seasons of a year.
Laura Carbone’s upcoming 13-song double-album, “The Cycle” is produced by Laura and her band’s lead guitarist Mark Eric Lewis, mixed by Collin Dupuis (St. Vincent, The Black Keys, Lana Del Rey), mastered by Philipp Welsing (Original Mastering Hamburg).
The debut single released April 2023 marked the springtime, the first season of the cycle, with the lush, wistful “Mourning Each Day Away”, heralding a mission statement of determination and rebirth, and an album of unbridled musical ambition and passion.
The second single “Horses” now follows, embodying the summer with its lazy, hazy groove and loungey soundtrack, topped by a goosebump-inducing vocal from Laura that reminds on Sade and Elizabeth Fraser, and is all Laura Carbone. “Don’t hold on, wild horses.” You know who you are. “Run with your wild horses.” Because that’s what you do.
In keeping with “The Cycle”, Laura and her band will be releasing a new single every season until the album’s release in the spring of 2024. Each single is representative of an experience or inspiration associated with that season and the story of our heroine personally, culminating then next spring with the release of “The Cycle”.
